Originally from tropical Singapore, Dawn Tan moved to Melbourne in 2008 to pursue a Fine Arts degree in Painting. Inspired by the beautiful Australian nature, friendly faces, food and culture, Dawn fell instantly in love with Melbourne and has since decided to call it home. Finding inspiration from food, cooking, motherhood, nature and life in general, Dawn spends her days watercolour painting, looking after her little kiddo, while running art workshops for both children and adults.

Dawn's work, creative career and her classes have been featured in many magazines, press and sites. Some of which includes Gourmet Traveller, Frankie Magazine, Lunch lady Magazine, Inside Out Magazine, The Age Newspaper, The Herald Sun, The Design Files, A Cup of Jo, Apartment Therapy. Throughout her career, Dawn has also collaborated with many notable organisations such as The National Gallery of Australia, City of Melbourne's ArtPlay, National Gallery of Victoria, Third Drawer Down, Heide Museum of Modern Art, The Jacky Winter Group, Craft Victoria, South Melbourne Market, Zart Art and so on.

With a huge passion for sharing and almost 20 years of experience working as an educator, Dawn now runs The Little Art Yurt, where children can come learn and create alongside with her. All classes are held in her Yarraville Yurt! Check out #littleartyurt on instagram to see all of Dawn’s teaching adventures!

Dawn also runs The Little Art Yurt Club ( LAYC ) with fellow educator and mum friend, Jules from Stories of Play. Together, they’ve created a fun and engaging online art program for families all over the world! Do visit LAYC if you are keen to join the art making fun from your corner of the world!
