This piece is part of an ongoing new series of work, inspired by all the amazing Melbourne eats that no longer exists. My favourite places which will now only exist in my memory. Ahhh….

A Footscray Institution. If you know, you know!

I first tried one of Nick Tsiligiris’s piping hot, sugary jam doughnuts while on an excursion back during my uni days. I remember getting off the stairs at Footscray station and the smell of doughnuts were in the air. I had to get a bag on the way home and totally no regrets. It was sooo good, especially as it was a rainy day, those piping hot sugary treats were just the bomb and somehow tasted extra delicious. I was tickled by the fact that the doughnuts were all filled via a cute dolphin jam filler. How kitsch!

Cheers to Olympic Doughnuts! May Nick’s amazing doughnut legacy live on in our hearts.
